Chonburi officials distributed more than 3,000 bags of
disaster-relief supplies and pledge 5,000 baht each to home and business
owners who suffered damage in this month’s massive flood.
Gov. Wichit Chatpaisit and Chonburi Council members Sept.
14 toured areas of the province hard hit by the Sept. 11 monsoon that
brought record flooding to Phanasnikhom, Koh Chan, Panthong, Bothong,
Sriracha, Baanbung, Banglamung and Pattaya.
The high water, Wichit admitted, continued to cause
residential, transportation, agricultural, fishing and other difficulties
for residents, particularly in low-lying Phanasnikhom.
The province has brought in six large pumps to
Phanasnikhom and paid for 32 boats to help residents there and in Koh Chan
get around. An additional four pumps were installed in Bansuan, Bangphra and
Chaophrasursak.
