Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome presides over the project.

Top Pattaya officials kicked off the first of a dozen seminars aimed at teaching students about democracy and encouraging them to become tomorrow’s leaders.

Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome and Pattaya City Council members joined about 200 students at Pattaya School No. 11 for the first Democracy Education Project Sept. 5. The program aimed to educate pupils on democracy and create youths interested in becoming leaders who will encourage Thais to place more importance on community.

Students participated in activities that ingrained responsibility to one’s duties, confidence to speak one’s mind, display one’s talent and accept one’s mistakes.

Itthiphol said the Democracy Education Project will continue at all of the city’s schools.
