A Pattaya teen who, with four other Thai children won top prizes in the
annual Toyota Dream Car Art Contest, was given a chance to show off his
award to classmates last month at Aksorn School.
Kiettisak Nunthananutthakul, 15, won a silver award and a trip to Japan
in the international art competition with his depiction of a glowing
futuristic gold vehicle rolling down Beach Road. Two other Thai teens
won two of the three top “gold awards” and two others took silver.
The five Thai teen artists joined 25 other kids from around the world at
an awards ceremony Aug. 6 in Aichi Prefecture in Japan.
Top local Toyota executives held a second ceremony Sept. 22 at
Kiettisak’s school and displayed his winning artwork. He was
congratulated by Veerachai Khunawornlerd, CEO of Toyota Charoenyont
Chonburi Co. and Aksorn Pattaya School Principal Nikhom Modrakhee.
Toyota donated 50,000 baht to the school for supplies and materials and
provided lunch for all the students.
Toyota sifted through more than 120,000 submissions for its 5th annual
contest to choose 30 winning drawings and painting from 50 countries.
Toyota began the contest with “the dual goals of creating an opportunity
for children to have fun and to understand the importance of having a
dream and at the same time to encourage them to become interested in
cars through drawing ‘Dream Cars’ using their creative imaginations.”
