Sattahip officials brought government services and
medical care to local neighborhoods with its latest “mobile services unit”
effort.
The March 22 event was the first of the periodic outreach
effort of the year, with Sattahip District Chief Chaichan Iamcharoen
accompanied by his wife and Sattahip Red Cross head Nittaya, as well as Bang
Saray Sheriff Shin Kaewsank and medical staff from Sattahip Km. 10 Hospital.
Doctors offered free checkups and administered dosages to
those on medication. Meanwhile, bureaucrats offered information on jobs,
taxes, agriculture and livestock breeding. Free haircuts were offered and
locally made items were up for sale.
Chaichan said that with difficult economic times and
Thailand’s recovery from last year’s flooding, residents have seen higher
prices and lower spending power. The mobile services unit was a way to help
people economically and offer them the convenience of not having to go to
district offices to take care of business. About 200 people took advantage
of the outreach effort.
