Indonesian government administrators visited Pattaya to observe and
study how various Thai governments and agencies run.
National Institute of Public Administration of the Republic of Indonesia
Chairman Tri Widodo Wahyo Utomo led the Aug. 27-31 visit. During the
trip, 35 NIPA members observed the workings of the Department of
Industrial Works, Office of Industrial Economics, Ministry of Commerce,
National Institute of Development Administration, and Pattaya City Hall.
City Councilman Rattanachai Sutidechanai welcomed the Pattaya observers,
giving them a presentation on management of Chonburi’s tourism zones. He
then presented the Indonesians with a key to the city.
NIPA is responsible for the research and development of public-service
programs and is the main unit organizing seminars to develop Indonesia’s
personnel. Representatives said they chose to study Thailand for the
second consecutive time.
The cooperation provided to the observation study for representatives
from NIPA will also prove useful to the Thailand and Indonesia network,
which will enhance the countries’ friendship. Indonesia has a close
relationship with Thailand on all fronts, therefore, providing an
opportunity for foreign study groups to study Pattaya’s management will
build good relationships and promote tourism, resulting in tourism
economic development in the future.
