The children from the Kindergarten classes at ISE
recently visited the ‘Water Bird Breeding Station’ near Kao Kheow. As
a part of their studies on the rainforest the children have been
investigating the different types of birds that live in Thailand.
Using
radio waves to attract the birds.
During their visit to the park, the children were
amazed at the size of the storks and Sarus Cranes. They were also able to
see many other interesting and unusual birds such as the Cassowary, the
Black Headed Ibis and a Hawk Eagle. The children were equally delighted to
see the colorful parakeets, cockatoos, ducks and rabbits.
Taking
a closer look with binoculars.
As they walked around the park, the children were also
able to observe the large storks roosting in the trees and watch them
flying around in their natural habitat. The rangers at the park showed the
children how they use radio wave equipment to call these birds to a
central area so that they can be counted and monitored. The children were
given the opportunity to be involved in this exercise by holding up the
special aerial.
The Kindergarten teachers at ISE would like to thank
the rangers at the park for their excellent assistance on the day.
