Calling all children on the Eastern Seaboard

It’s time to bounce, ride, climb, play games, win prizes and have fun at the annual Jesters Children’s Fair

Karyn Walker
Diana Garden Resort and Driving Range, North Pattaya, will once again provide the perfect setting for the Fair with the fun scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Sunday, September 10, celebrating the 9th year of the Jesters ‘Care for Kids’ Charity Drive.
Following the official opening, the unmistakable roar of the Jesters Harleys, and a stirring performance by the Pattaya City School Marching Band, there is an action-packed schedule of events planned for the day including live on-stage entertainment and dozens of stalls to browse.

The children’s tug-o-war is always a fun event.
‘Action-packed’ also refers to the activities available for the younger ones - they can bounce the day away on the bouncy kingdom, ride the beautiful ponies from Horseshoe Point and try their skill on the climbing wall, this year sponsored by Leighton Engineering& Geckotech Engineering. The children’s activity area also features stalls run by the local international school communities: staff, students and parents from Garden International School, St Andrews International School, The Regent’s School, International School Eastern Seaboard and Montessori Children’s Centre, provide lots of fun, games and prizes to be won.
The on-stage entertainment will keep the whole family enthralled - this year there will be dancing, martial arts, and many entertainers performing throughout the day. And it’s not just all about watching - several times throughout the programme children will have the opportunity to participate in games. Led by Spencer Bragg from St Andrews International School, the games team will invite children to join in some wacky games and friendly competitions.

The raffle team will be ready to help you try your luck in the Children’s Raffle.

If all this activity leaves you hungry and thirsty you need look no further than the tremendous range of food and refreshment stalls. From fish and chips to aromatic curries, there will be something to tantalize your taste buds, and new for the children this year is the cotton candy stall with ten colourful flavours to try. And those who need to cool down and relax will find something to quench their thirst at the Jesters charity beer tent.
Let’s not forget that the aim of the day is to raise money for the Jesters Care for Kids Charity projects. You will be able to try your luck in the Children’s Raffle - a major fair fundraiser with more than two dozen tremendous prizes to win, this year featuring the hugely cuddly Pooh Bear and friends. Winning tickets are drawn at 3.30 p.m., just before the children’s tug-o-war, so remember to buy your tickets as soon as you get to the Fair!
Sunday September 10 - a day for the whole family to have some fun and help ‘Care for Kids’ continue to provide opportunities for needy children. Many of the kids that we are caring for will be there on the day - a real treat for them, and a real treat for us. We look forward to seeing you there too!
And the next important date for your diary is Saturday September 16 when Jameson’s the Irish Pub hosts the Jesters Pub Night - sports fans take note - there are some fantastic items in the auction this year! Full details of the grand raffle and the auction lots on offer are in last week’s issue of Pattaya Mail.

Ride the beautiful ponies from Horseshoe Point.

Stop Press: England celebrates World Cup win

Admittedly, it may have been at Wembley Stadium in 1966, but those of us who watched the match that July 30th will never forget the moment when the final whistle went.

“England celebrates World Cup win” photo set is up for bids in the Jesters Pub Night auction.

To top the amazing collection of sports memorabilia that will be up for bids in the Jesters Pub Night auction, Mike Axford has kindly donated this framed and authenticated set featuring a photo of the whole team, signed by the surviving members, Manager Sir Alf Ramsay and Trainer Harold Shepherdson. For any England football fan, or any serious football fan, it is the ultimate collector’s piece.
This rare item could be yours on Saturday 16th September at Jameson’s, when the Jesters Pub Night and auction takes place. However, to get ahead of the nods and raised digits on the night, pre-bids are being accepted by e-mail to [email protected] or by letter to the Jameson’s office in Nova Park.

Children from 10 nursery schools competed in a sports day on August 22, an event that was held at Pattaya School No 2.
Deputy mayors Wutisak Rermkitkarn and Wattana Jantanawaranon, and council members Farooq Wongborisuthi and Banlue Kullavanijaya presided over the games, designed to give the very youngest an opportunity to show their skills and to instill a love of sporting activities.
Amongst the activities arranged for the budding young athletes were 30-meter and 50-meter races, long-jumping, and the pitching of balls into buckets.

It was a close race right to the finish.

First Miss Thailand Pageant in Pattaya to bring smiles to needy children

For the first time in its 70 years, the prestigious Miss Thailand Beauty Pageant will be held in Pattaya, building awareness of this colorful city and benefiting needy children under the care of the Father Ray Foundation at the same time.
The Thai Alangkarn Theater, the venue for this year’s Miss Thailand contest, recently donated 1,000 tickets to the Father Ray Foundation. The sale of these tickets will directly benefit the Foundation, which runs the Pattaya Orphanage, Redemptorist School for the Disabled, Schools for the Deaf and the Blind, and the Street Kids project, all in Pattaya.
“The Father Ray Foundation provides a loving home and education to orphaned and neglected children and disabled young people. We give 750 children and young people each year an education, a home and the chance to lead an independent life. We hope to be able to sell all these tickets so that these children can get the optimal benefit from this special event,” said Ms. Radchada Chomjinda, executive secretary for Father Ray Foundation, at the ticket handover press conference held recently at the Redemptorist School, one of the projects under the care of Father Ray Foundation.
“To celebrate the auspicious and unique occasion of the 60th anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s accession to the throne, we would like to reach out and give our support to the community. Father Ray did so much for our community so I am so glad that now Alangkarn can give our needed support to the Foundation,” said Suttikorn Jearpaitoon, managing director of Thai Alangkarn Theater.
“I am happy that many organizations are voluntarily working together to help raise the quality of these kids’ lives. With the purchase of these tickets you too can help make this world a better place for our children,” Mayor Niran Wattanasartsathorn concluded kindly at the conference.
The Miss Thailand 2006 beauty pageant will take place at the Thai Alangkarn Theater in Pattaya on Sunday, September 3. The Theater opens at 6 p.m. and the TV taping will be from 7 to 9.30 p.m.
Tickets are available at 1,000 baht each and can be ordered from the Father Ray Foundation in Pattaya by calling (038) 716 628 and (038) 422 745 or TQPR in Bangkok at 0 2260 5820 ext. 116.
