A Bangkok communications student bested 29 other transvestites to win the 2011 Miss Tiffany pageant, and will go on to represent Thailand in the Miss International Queen pageant later in the year.

Sirapassorn “Sammy” Auttayakorn, who attends Ramkamhaeng University, won 120,000 baht and a Toyota Yaris. He also won the “Miss Silky Skin” prize from Asoke Skin Hospital, and Miss Photogenic.

First runner-up, 23-year-old student Saranrat “Nat” Chaiyakorn, took home 100,000 baht while second runner-up, Tissanamadi “Gigi” Bunniyom, won 20,000 baht.

Costume designer Tissanamadi, a crowd favorite, also won the best costume.

Other special award winners included Serinapa Petchaboon for the best swimsuit, Archiraya Trithanawiboon took Miss Congeniality, Atchreechaya Tanuganurat for the most stylish cocktail dress, and Variny Khumpaiphuan as Miss NuRiss Beauty.

The entire event took place over several days, from May 2-6, with photo ops including contestants visiting underprivileged children, releasing turtles into the sea, playing beach volleyball, visiting host hotel Woodland’s Resort, and a cocktail evening dress contest sponsored by Kongkiat Boutique, as well as a Miss Unlimited Sexy contest on May 4 at Central Festival Pattaya Beach featuring contestants in swimsuits.

The finals took place in the evening of May 6 at Tiffany Theater, with famous judges being presided over by Dr. Seri Wongmonta.

The Miss Tiffany Universe pageant is Thailand’s annual celebration of its celebrated transvestite and transgender population. The contest is designed to show boys who would be girls in a positive light and has been responsible for launching the show business careers of several past winners.

The pageant is extremely popular, being shown on national television and around the world. The winner of the contest goes on to represent Thailand at the Miss International Queen pageant, also organized by the Tiffany cabaret show.
