The Regent’s School Pattaya is hosting the ‘Picnic in the Park for Peace’ music event on Sunday September 18 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Father Ray Children’s Village, at Siam Country Club. The event commemorates the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy and promotes peace through bringing together communities through music. Ric O’Barry, star of the movie “The Cove”, will be a special guest at the Regent’s School on Friday 30th September. He will introduce his controversial movie “The Cove” and then take questions once it has finished. Able the Disabled Foundation will be holding a Country Fair at Horseshoe Point, Pattaya on October 1-2 and stalls are available for vendors to showcase their products. The next meeting of Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) will be on Sunday, September 11. Everyone is warmly welcome. Phra Mick Ratanapanyo Bhikkhu will speak on the topics of ‘All of our enemies are in our minds’ and ‘The Meaning of Life.’ Phra Mick is a Thai-born Australian monk who currently resides in Bangkok. The Club meets every Sunday morning at the Tavern by the Sea restaurant located on the north end of Beach Road (part of the Amari Orchid Resort). The program starts as usual at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Each week the PCEC usually has an interesting speaker to talk on various subjects of interest in an informal setting. The program is followed by the ever lively and often humorous Open Forum where questions are asked and answers given about living in Pattaya as well as an update on events in and around Pattaya. For the past 28 years the Samaritans of Thailand have been providing confidential crisis intervention services over the telephone. The English-speaking unit, Samaritans English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community. English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone.
