model examples for the 2013 Family Forum.
Two extended Chonburi families were honored at the
province’s annual Family Forum for upholding traditional and family
values.
Deputy Gov. Pornchai Kwansakul designated the Dulayaprapha and
Udomchaichana families as model examples for the 2013 Family Forum. To
qualify for the annual commendation, families must have at least three
generations all living in the same household.

Family forums must be held in every province annually
under a 1990 law passed to preserve family values and traditions. The
country designates each April 14 as Family Day.
The forum consisted of seminars, meetings with community groups to
listen to their opinions and help formulate family-oriented policies in
the province. Attending were members of the Chonburi Women’s Development
group, Community Family Development Center, charity groups, social
workers and government bureaucrats.
Pornchai said problems facing families today include drug abuse,
illness, teen pregnancy, AIDS and addiction to Internet social media.
The Family Forum, he said, aims to offer training to parents to organize
family activities and participate in religious events. (CPRD)
