Royal Thai Police officials dispatch New Year’s troops in Pattaya

Advisor Gen. Wuthi Liptapanlop and Assistant Commissioner Lt. Gen. Jaktip Chaijinda dispatch New Year’s troops in Pattaya.

Teerarak Suthathiwong
Top Royal Thai Police commanders formally issued orders to Pattaya-area cops to provide security for New Year’s Eve.
Advisor Gen. Wuthi Liptapanlop and Assistant Commissioner Lt. Gen. Jaktip Chaijinda joined Region 2 Police Commander Lt. Gen. Kawee Suphanan, Banglamung District Chief Sakchai Taengho and Deputy Mayor Ronakit Ekasingh Dec. 31 for the dispatch.
Jaktip said many tourists arrived in Thailand during the holidays and police needed to step up their protection to ensure safety, as well as keep traffic moving.
He claimed that the Bangkok demonstrations have no impacted tourism levels because police had assured foreign governments that tourists would be safe.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand said earlier last month, however, that Russian tourist arrivals had dropped 20 percent and that South Korean and Chinese tourists had “disappeared” from the kingdom in the face of the political upheaval.
