Lions, dragons, elephants and Chinese wise men/women
on parade at Nong Nooch Tropical Garden.

It may be the “year of the horse,” but the elephants at Nong Nooch
Tropical Garden did their best to ring in the Chinese New Year.
The garden’s celebration began Jan. 29 with a pachyderm parade as well as the
requisite dancing lions and dragons.
Director Kampol Tansajja introduced Yok, 11, and Christmas, 11, to guests. They
showed off their skills in drawing, gymnastics and massage while wearing a
lion’s head. Two baby elephants wearing smiling grandmother and aunt masks
joined actors in a long-drum performance.
The park estimated that the Jan. 31-Feb. 2 holiday would generate 10 million
baht in income.
