This year, Makha Bucha Day & Valentine’s Day both
fall on the same day, Friday, February 14. Due to it being a major
religious holiday, banks and government offices will be closed, although
most currency exchange booths will remain open. It also means that
alcohol sales are banned, so you can buy your loved one some roses, but
not a bottle of wine (unless you purchase it the day before). Whether
you wish to celebrate one of the holiest days on the Buddhist calendar,
or have a romantic evening with your loved one, Pattaya Mail wishes you
the happiest of holidays. (Related stories appear on pages 2 & 5.)
