After finding success in seven Pattaya neighborhoods, national
drug-control officials are hoping to expand its “Mother of the Land”
narcotics-eradication program citywide.

Office of Narcotics Control Board officials met with representatives
from the Soi Kophai, Khekhaeng Koh Larn, Nong Phangkhae, Khem Khaeng
Ratchawet, Soi, Post Office, and Nong Tabaek communities March 10 to
review the Pattaya-Banglamung networking model established between
community leaders and law enforcement.
Weerat Joijinda, president of Mother of the Land Fund program and the
Kophai Community, invited agents from the National Command Center for
Drugs and Community Development Organization also to attend.
The purpose of the meeting was to advertise the Mother of the Land Fund
and honor HM the Queen Sirikit by making strong communities safe from
drugs. Rehabilitation starts within communities using affection from
relatives, who give opportunities and forgiveness. Citizens within the
communities will help change the behaviors of addicts and return to
being good individuals. The project will be conducted in various forms
such as foster families, he said.
