Pattaya police arrested a transvestite for allegedly pick-pocketing a Dutch
tourist in the Walking Street “safety area.”
Wouter Johannes Egbertus Wolven, 58, called officers around 3 a.m. April 11,
reporting his Apple iPhone had been stolen from his pants pocket after a
ladyboy had accosted and hugged him as he walked in front of the Windy Hotel
with girlfriend Sylvia Monica Loggen, 52.
Walking Street is designated by police as a “safety zone” for tourists,
supposedly enforced with stepped-up patrols and enforcement.
Hotel security guard Yuthana Kuisri told police he witnessed the event and
gave police a description of the man in high heels, noting he’d fled toward
the Siam Bayshore Hotel & Spa.
Police quickly found the suspect, Parinya Yodta, 26, of Loei, who had
Wolven’s phone in his handbag. Police said the transvestite confessed to the
pick-pocketing.
