Chonburi officials have begun training college students to be leaders in a
province-wide anti-drug campaign.
Deputy Gov. Pongsak Preechawit launched the “Volunteer Leaders Anti-Drug
Project” at Pattaya Technical College in Nongket Yai July 29 with teachers and
students from vocational schools in Pattaya, Sattahip and other areas of
Chonburi.
The project aims at preventing drug use among college students as a way to
reduce the widespread drug use in the general population.
The Chonburi Education Office implements strategies by involving as many
agencies, sectors and organizations in campaigns as possible. The project is
supported by the Chonburi Command Centre for Drugs Elimination, Chonburi Office
of Provincial Vocational Education and heads of vocational schools consisting of
deputy directors for student activities promotion, and teachers responsible for
student activities of vocational colleges in Chonburi.
The goal is to train 100 student volunteers, two from each college, and students
at Pattaya Technical College who are members of the To Be No. 1 program. The
student volunteers to be trained will play the leadership roles in preventing
and solving drug problems in college and amongst others in the same age group.
