Twenty transgender people vied for the title of Miss Healthy Queen
International, a Pattaya beauty pageant organized to promote safe sex and
equality among the so-called “third sex.”
Organized by Sisters, a Pattaya transgender-advocacy group, the Sept. 19
pageant at Central Center Pattaya, was supported by the U.S. Agency for
International Development and PSI Thailand.
The objective of the event was to show the potential and equality that
transgender persons also have human rights just like men and women, and that
they have a beautiful personality.
Kanmol Phunpetch took first place while Kanchanapa Puengpho was the first
runner-up and Klitsanaporn Thaiwong came in third.
They will next serve as representatives for Sisters as it organizes
activities and future campaigns, such as public announcements on safe sex to
prevent HIV and more.
