The thunder of hooves
will once again echo around the Chonburi provincial government offices
when the annual festival kicks off this weekend.
The annual spectacle that is the Chonburi Buffalo
Racing Festival will take place this year from Oct. 4-10 on the field in
front of city and provincial government offices in Chonburi. The
highlight races will be run on Tuesday, Oct. 7.
This year’s festival also features a buffalo “beauty” contest, more
conventional pageants for young and older women, traditional Thai
sports, a buffalo-breeding contest and Muay Thai boxing. Locally made
products will also be available for sale.
