H.R.H. Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn,
honorary member of the Junior Chamber Thailand,
presided over the opening ceremony of the 47th
JCI Asia Pacific Conference 1997 held at the
convention centre of the Ambassador City Jomtien
Hotel on Thursday, May 22.
Pattaya to become “World Class”
tourist destination
Sansak Ngarmphiches reported that the parliamentary governing
board of the Tourism Authority of Thailand has decided to make
Pattaya a world-class tourist destination.
The present Pattaya city council, headed by Pairat Suthithamronsawat, ends its
term this month, with the election for the new city council to be held in 60
days.

Of the 18 participants and 39
entries in the Pattaya Mail Amateur Photo Contest, 13
photos were awarded prizes and honourable mentions at
the awards presentation ceremony by the fountain in the
Royal Garden Plaza on Saturday, May 31.

The Rotary Club of Jomtien/Pattaya and the U.S. Navy
again joined hands to distribute clothing and shoes to the Foundation of
Life Center and the Eastern Seaboard Child Welfare Protection Institute.
Chief Sandra Little of the USS Fort McHenry collected and distributed the
clothing.
