Casa Pascal now officially open

Pascal Schnyder and his wife Kim, and their friend Dominic Barth, the three people behind the new fine dining restaurant Casa Pascal, welcomed the cream of Pattaya’s culinary set at the official opening, performed by Pattaya’s mayor Pairat Suthithamrongsawat.

Dominic Barth, Kim and Pascal Schnyder and mayor Pairat Suthithamrongsawat cut the ribbon to officially open Casa Pascal.

Amongst the well wishers were the executive chef of the Royal Cliff Beach Resort, Walter Tenisch, plus the Benjarong Restaurant’s Fabian and the Wine Club founder, resident manager of the Royal Cliff Grand, Ranjith Chandrasiri. Fredi Schaub, the culinary partner in Bruno’s was there too, along with Hans Banziger from Café Paradise.

Georges and Ursula Rothstein from Kalae Art and D้cor were present (check out the restrooms at Casa Pascal to see some of their classic interior pieces), plus Michael Vogt and Tippawan from the Amari Orchid Resort.

The official opening began with a blessing from the assembled monks, which was very much appreciated by the staff. What was also very much appreciated by Pascal, was the assistance he had been given by his previous employers, the Dusit Resort, in arranging the monks ceremony and from Chatchawal Supachayanont, the Dusit GM and his staff in assisting him with the planning and setting up of the new restaurant.

Casa Pascal was reviewed by the Pattaya Mail’s Dining Out Team (Vol IX, No. 20) and received one of the Team’s highest recommendations.

Come and grow with us...

The Thai Garden Resort recently upgraded their gardens and front entrance. This project involved planting of over 2000 new trees and plants.

The general manager of Thai Garden Resort, Ren้ Pisters, spared no expense when improving the hotel grounds, and even lent the gardeners a hand.

To extend this outstanding “Green Environment” project, the general manager of the resort, Ren้ Pisters, decided to give away another 300 Vassana plants to associated companies, suppliers and customers in and around Pattaya.

The Vassana plant is a symbol of good luck and prosperity – and that is exactly what the management of the Thai Garden Resort wishes for their valued business partners.

This is the famous Vassana plant – bringing prosperity and luck to its owner.

The persons who receive these plants are being asked to put them on their desks, take good care of them and watch them grow! In return, the Thai Garden will reward them. On several occasions, the team members of the Thai Garden Resort will come to visit and measure the plants. The plants’ caretakers will be eligible to win a prize in one of three categories on which the plants will be judged:

1. The plant that has grown the largest in 6 months time.
2. The plant that has grown the most sprouts on the stem in 6 months time.
3. The plant that remained the smallest over a period of 6 months.

That sounds like fun, doesn’t it? Many are sent out already and the secretaries, office employees and even the bosses are already getting excited. In about six months time, a big party will be held at the Moon River Pub & Restaurant, where the final winners will be selected and the prizes awarded.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention that the first prize for each category is a one-baht- gold chain.

A unique idea at a very unique place by a very unique general manager!

Big turnout for this month’s English speakers Business Club

Many new faces plus a few familiar ones were present at the May meeting of the Eastern Seaboard English Speakers Business Club at the Royal Cliff Beach Resort. The new venue for the May luncheon was Rossini’s Restaurant in the Royal Cliff Grand, as the Royal Wing is now under renovation.

Happy faces of the Eastern Seaboard English Speakers Business Club at their May meeting at the Royal Cliff Beach Resort.

Felix Grieder, the resident manger of the Royal Wing was looking extremely relaxed with no guests in his closed hotel wing, which added to lighthearted mood of the event.

A number of ladies graced this month’s meeting providing a fresh outlook on what had been predominately a male stronghold. During the luncheon, Andrew Wood, general manager of the Royal Cliff Beach Resort presented a brief overview of the renovations being carried out in the Royal Wing, and Greg Watkins, the executive director of the British Chamber of Commerce Thailand spoke on the forthcoming networking event which was held later that day.

The English Speaking Club meets every two months, and is a refreshing luncheon with plenty of opportunity to network with business people from Bangkok and the Eastern Seaboard.
