TNT Express and KLM
Cargo expand partnership to boost European network
TNT Express and KLM Cargo have announced that TNT Express
will become the exclusive supplier of European flown feeder services for KLM
Cargo.
The operation will start with joint use of TNT Express jet
freighter capacity to and from key markets: Helsinki - four times per week,
Dublin - even times per week, Oporto - twice a week and Madrid - once a week. A
high frequency truck service between the TNT Express air hub in Liege, Belgium
and KLM ‘s hub at Schiphol will ensure competitive throughput times for
customers.
The cooperation enables TNT Express to extend collection cut
off times and provide shorter door-to-door delivery times in many parts of
Europe. KLM Cargo will stop operating its own leased European freighter. Both
parties have agreed to further expand the cooperation by improving frequencies
and adding other destinations in the coming period.
This partnership will mean greater flexibility and
reliability for customers. Key European routes will be covered by improved
export and import services offered by both organizations. The customer driven
focus of both companies also gives the partnership an edge in delivering fully
integrated distribution solutions for customers.
Michael Wisbrun, EVP of KLM Cargo said, “We are very
pleased with the timing of this agreement and the immediate positive effect on
our bottom line. But most of all we are pleased with the long term and
structural character of this companionship which will create breakthrough
opportunities for the customer base of KLM Cargo.”
The launch is a stepping stone in further cooperation
between the two companies. TNT Express and KLM Cargo are partnering in a new
approach towards customers to offer joint services based on their networks and
capabilities. The usage by TNT Express of the KLM Cargo long haul
intercontinental network is also growing rapidly.
Christian Drenthen, managing director of the TNT Express
Network Business Unit said, “This is an important venture for both ourselves
and KLM Cargo. It demonstrates not only our commitment to building stronger
partnerships with other powerful airlines, but also reinforces our position as
the best express delivery operator in Europe. In such uncertain times in the
aviation industry we are pleased to be announcing added benefits for our
customers.”
Alan Jones, group managing director of TNT Express
commented, “Our innovative agreement with KLM Cargo enables us to provide
even faster and more reliable on demand door to door express delivery services
in Europe. We will create improved customer satisfaction and increased profits
through these arrangements.”
