With promises to push for patrol bikes and scholarships
for family members, Sukarat “Chub” Kalra was re-elected as president of the
Pattaya Volunteer Tourist Police for the fourth year.
Sukarat beat out three other candidates and captured the
win with 100 of the 170 votes cast in the Dec. 17 secret ballot. The Tourist
Police Volunteers have 270 members in all.
He said his priority for his next term was to work harder
to obtain scholarships for the children of volunteers, three patrol
motorbikes for officers to use and to have police volunteers work more
closely with the media to explain their roles and responsibilities.
