Volunteer police seize the knife and bicycle, and detained this woman.

A police volunteer apprehended an HIV-infected Rayong
woman trying to steal a bicycle belonging to a foreign sex partner she
claims didn’t pay her the money she needed to track down two long-lost
children before she dies.
Identified only as “Meekam,” the 37-year-old claims
she only agreed to have sex for money because she had no other way to
raise funds to find her teen-age boys or go home. Aware of the deadly
risks she poses to sex partners, the woman went with the customer
anyway. But she claims she was tossed out of his South Pattaya apartment
without being paid. To get back at him, she tried to cut loose his
bicycle with a knife.
Police volunteer Sitthisak Tamtan spotted her with
the knife around 3 p.m. on South Road and hauled her into Pattaya Police
Station. There she recounted her tale of woe, saying she was dying of
AIDS, her husband had been in jail a drug-dealing conviction for the
past 12 years and that her mother-in-law took away her 15- and
18-year-old sons ten years ago.
She said she came from Rayong to find her kids in Pattaya to speak
with them one last time before she dies.
