With expectations that thousands of people again
being killed or injured while celebrating the Thai New Year, medical
personnel from four Sattahip-area hospitals joined paramedics and Royal
Thai Navy officials in training exercises to handle the casualties.

Panlert Klaewtanong led the April 8 workshop for doctors and nurses from
Sattahip Km. 10 Hospital, Wat Yan Sang Wararam Hospital and
Apakornkiatwong Hospital. They were joined by personnel from the
Rojanathamsathan Rescue Foundation and Sattahip Naval Base.
The seminar covered not only emergency response, but
collaboration between the various facilities to handle the expected
large numbers of victims of road accidents and other Songkran-related
incidents.
Through the first four days of the seven-day holiday, 159 people were
killed nationwide and more than 2,000 people hurt in vehicle-related
accidents.
