The Pattaya Elderly Club commemorated the 80th birthday
of HM the Queen with a traditional religious ceremony.
Pattaya Permanent Secretary Pakorn Sukhonthachat attended
the Aug. 10 ceremony at city hall with members from the Sukhumvit, South
Pattaya, Central Pattaya and Naklua branches dressing in traditional Thai
costumes and inviting nine monks from Chaimongkol Temple to deliver lectures
on Buddhist dharma.
The theme of the sermon was Mother’s Day and how a
mother’s debt can never be repaid. Monks also discussed the importance of
giving alms and making merit.
The club also held a Mother’s Day Beauty Contest with up
to two participants from each branch. Club members then put on a traditional
Thai dance performance.
