Monarchy supporters to rally in Pattaya May 31

Chonburi Public Relation Department

Thousands of people will gather on Beach Road to honor HM the King May 31 as part of Chonburi’s recruitment of more than 120,000 “volunteers to protect the monarchy.”

Chonburi Gov. Wichit Chatpaisit presides over an organizational meeting for Chonburi monarchy protecting volunteers.

The nationwide Interior Ministry program aims at staging a number of events between now and the king’s Dec. 5 birthday to honor the monarch on his 84th, 12th cycle birthday.

Chonburi Gov. Wichit Chatpaisit presided over an organizational meeting for Chonburi volunteers April 22. To date, the province has recruited 120,029 volunteers from the province’s 11 districts and divided them into 69 clubs with 13,841 people trained as group leaders.

Interior Ministry officials will host the first of the nationwide gatherings in Bangkok May 5 with 5,500 people expected to attend.

The Pattaya Beach Road event is scheduled for 2 p.m. on May 31 and will include a video about the responsibilities of being a monarchy protecting volunteer, parade featuring army and navy personnel and other activities.
