The Pattaya Grand Sale gets underway again this
month, offering discounts on shopping and accommodations throughout the
city.
Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome and heads of regional
business, tourism, sports and hotel associations kicked off the
four-month campaign at Pattaya City Hall June 2.
Supported by the Chonburi provincial government, the
Pattaya Grand Sale has become the city’s principal tourism-promotion
effort during the low season, aimed mostly at domestic Thai travelers.
Itthiphol said feedback to last year’s Grand Sale was
positive, with more than 20,000 people applying for cards earning them
discounts on hotels, restaurants, golf outings and shopping.
The mayor said he believes the promotion should
become an annual event. This year, he said, the promotion is being aimed
at travelers with larger budgets, both domestically and overseas.
Joining the promotion this year is Air Asia, which
offers discounts when booked with the airline’s credit card. The carrier
will also feature a “Buy 1, Get 1 Free” offer on tickets booked with
plastic. Pattaya’s partnership with Air Asia actually will run into next
year, Itthiphol said.
The Pattaya Grand Sale runs through Sept. 30 with
savings of up to 60 percent on hotels room, 50 percent at golf courses,
tourist attractions and 20 percent at restaurants. Contact the city call
center at 1337 or go online to Trip2Pattaya.com to obtain a discount
card.
