Combined Chambers enjoy the Amari Orchid

Stephan Tierney, senior client advisor for MBMG Group talks money management with Simon Philbrook, client advisor for MBMG Group.

Dr. Iain Corness

The Australian Chamber of Commerce Thailand (AustCham) held another if its Seaboard Sundowners at the Amari Orchid Resort last weekend. Mindful of the success last year of inviting other chambers, this networking evening also saw members of the British Chamber of Commerce Thailand (BCCT) and the American Chamber (AmCham) exchanging business cards in the Amari Ocean Tower’s Ice Bar.

With the Amari’s GM David Cumming being the new chairman of the BCCT Eastern Seaboard chapter, it was easy to see why the Amari was one of the sponsors of the evening - and the food was excellent (though it ran out of chocolate strawberries before I could go back for the 10th time!).

Alain Deurwaerder, managing director of Ducati Motor (Thailand) Co., Ltd.; and Graham Macdonald, managing director of MBMG Group are enjoying the evening.

A new corporate sponsor was M&C Energy (Thailand) Limited, represented by Laddawan Tantisantiwong. M&C turned out to be a Scottish group which advises industry on energy use and how to save and maximize efficiency. M&C Energy Group has over 500 experts ensuring clients get the most from their energy budgets, providing key support throughout every aspect of the energy procurement and contracting process. They can be contacted through www. mcenergygroup.in.th.

The second corporate sponsor was the Automotive Focus Group (AFG), which has ‘grown up’ to be no longer dependant upon the AustCham, but can stand on its own two feet. The AFG acts as a forum for gathering and sharing information related to the Thailand Automotive Industry in general but particularly the Automotive OEM’s and suppliers in the Eastern Seaboard. They can be contacted through afg-thailand. blogspot.com.

With over 100 chamber members in attendance, it was a very spirited networking evening, and everyone got their ‘money’s worth’ of exchanged business cards. It looks as though the concept of combining chambers sits well in the present marketplace.
