Sanitation Engineers clean
dirt, garbage and sand out of the drainage pipes on Beach Road in Central
Pattaya.
Vittaya Yoondorn
City workers continued to clean out storm-drainage
pipelines as the heart of the rainy season kicks in.
Eight Engineering Department employees used vacuum trucks
to suck dirt, garbage and other debris out of the underground pipelines.
Workers popped drain covers and scraped out crud from the Dolphin Roundabout
to Central Road. After removing garbage, cigarettes, leaves and twigs, they
flushed the lines with water.
Crew chief Patiwat Janthong said such work will be done
monthly, fixing broken pipes or drain covers as they go. He also reminded
the public that using public drains as garbage cans carries a 2,000 baht
fine.
