Nongprue police have arrested a Phayao man for allegedly robbing a Russian
woman in her Soi Wat Boonsamphan home.
Tatiana Ostapchuk, 35, called police after an armed man held her at gunpoint
inside her house in Rawiporn Village April 2. He fled with about 100,000
baht in electronics.
Obviously unaware the iPhone he allegedly stole emits a traceable signal,
Chaimongkol Damkhlongtan, 23, was found just hours later in a rented room in
Rayong. Police recovered the fake 9mm handgun he used, along with a mobile
phone, Apple iPad and a Canon camera. They also seized the Khon
Kaen-registered Toyota pickup truck allegedly used in the robbery.
Police got a bonus during the arrest, also finding and arresting a couple
wanted for a March burglary in Pattaya. Anake Naksomboon, 33 and Khanittha
Janrat, 24, were booked on a March 21 arrest warrant.
Police said all three suspects confessed to their crimes, with the couple
saying they needed the money to buy drugs.
