Pattaya Beach empties as military takes over

Martial Law, followed by a curfew, and both done during the slow season equals empty beaches in Pattaya.

When, on May 20, Army Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha signed the order declaring martial law in the kingdom, Pattaya’s tourist exodus began. By the time the coup became official two days later, Pattaya Beach was desolate and only a few Thai and international tourists could be found.

Property-deed mistake behind illegal excavation of Nong Plalai irrigation canal

A month after the president of the Nong Plalai Sub-district Council was caught digging up land surrounding a public irrigation canal for a plantation owner, Banglamung officials have determined the farmer’s property deed had mistakenly included public land.

Mae La-Or Market flood drainage work underway

Contractors have begun connecting underground drainage pipes around the Mae La-Or Market with a new wastewater-treatment plant in Jomtien Beach and Pattaya officials are predicting the work will be on-time and problem-free.
