Two Nepalese foreign volunteers were arrested and fined for
allegedly begging for donations from Pattaya businesses.
Man Bahadur Thapa, 26, and Sunita Chudhary, 27, were taken into custody by
Chonburi Immigration Police at the Aura shop on Thepprasit Road May 15.
Officers confiscated leaflets describing a volunteer organization and
volunteer identification cards.
Under questioning, both admitted they had entered Thailand to solicit funds
for their organization. They were charged with fundraising without
permission and transferred to the Dongtan police substation where they were
fined and released.
