Russian tourist drowns
off Koh Larn

Police were unable to determine why a Russian tourist drowned
while swimming off Koh Larn.
The dead body of Ramis Faridovich Rakhmatullin, 30, was pulled onto the
island’s Samae Beach May 19. There were no outward signs of why he died.
Friend Maksim Shevchenko, 30, said the two had arrived on a package tour
May 13 and planned to stay in Pattaya until May 24. They had booked a
day on Koh Larn and went free diving. During the swim, he apparently had
a seizure and died.
The body was sent to the Forensics Institute to determine a cause of
death and the Russian embassy was notified.
