About 150 people were arrested in separate raids of illegal gambling
dens in Pattaya and Huay Yai.
The May 27 operations targeted a room at the CK Hotel on Pratamnak Road
and a 19-rai property on Huay Yai’s Municipal Road 2.
In the Pattaya raid, police used an undercover operative to get
operators to open the second-floor room. Then officers rushed in,
capturing 29 people playing Hi-Lo. Cards, dice and cash were seized.
Police said the operators confessed that they started the gambling
operation in the hotel due to the Thai military’s curfew, which had
impacted their normal location.
In Huay Yai, Banglamung District Chief Sakchai Taengho led the raid with
50 Huay Yai and Banglamung officers following complaints from neighbors
about an illegal casino.
The two-story house had security cameras pointing outward, but officers
managed to penetrate the building in several spots, rounding up 50
gamblers and 70 staff members.
More than 100 decks of cards, 40,000 baht cash and a loaded handgun were
seized. Home owner Suchart Anuchot, 49, was the alleged dealer.
