Ten eastern-region chefs faced off at Makro Cash & Carry’s annual “HoReCa
Challenge” cooking competition to see who would qualify to compete in Makro’s
Oct. 30-Nov. 2 national competition.
Professional hotel and restaurant chefs put on the aprons in the Aug. 21
cook-off at the South Pattaya warehouse store. General Manager Songwat
Phanumartsakul noted this year’s mission for chefs was to create their best
“signature dish.”
World Chefs Association judges Chef Sakchai Ditsakul, Aek Charttrakul and
Prechan Vonguthaiphan sent the top three chefs to the Bangkok finals. Top
winners there will take home about 500,000 baht and represent Makro at the Asian
cook-off in Hong Kong next year.
Winners were Jetsada Limpajeerawong from the Summer restaurant for his roasted
duck breast with crushed herbs; Kitti Darukarnjanapat from the Black Sheep Steak
restaurant for his mushrooms with chives dish; and Thanadej Kulthanachaidej,
from Pom Wild Food Restaurant with his grilled tuna with wasabi sauce.
