An Iranian man using a stolen credit card has been
arrested for allegedly stealing 300,000 baht of the British card owner’s
property.
Asghar Haji Khan Mirzaci, 34, was taken into custody
March 11 at Central Festival Pattaya Beach after a shopkeeper reported
use of a stolen PayPal debit card.
The card was one of several reported stolen by Wayne
Holmes, 51, after he reported his JPK Apartments room was burglarized
March 6. Listed as stolen was a safe containing 3,000 British pounds,
video camera, notebook computer, two mobile phones, jewelry and
important documents.
Mirzaci denied he stole Holmes’ property, saying he’d
purchased the PayPal card from a Thai woman. A police search of the
Iranian’s Niran Condominiums apartment turned up no evidence of any
stolen property. Mirzaci was nonetheless detained for further
investigation.
