Garry Leon Skowronski has been arrested for
trying to pass counterfeit currency.
Boonlua Chatree
Pattaya Tourist Police arrested an Australian trying to
exchange counterfeit U.S. dollars in South Pattaya.
Garry Leon Skowronski, 55, was apprehended at the TT
Foreign Exchange on Second Road March 16. Seized were seven counterfeit
US$100 bills.
Exchange booth clerk Kanjana Butsa-ad alerted police,
claiming Skowronski and his 29-year-old Thai girlfriend had tried to pass
bills with matching serial numbers.
Police later searched the Australian’s North Pattaya
hotel room and found two more counterfeit bills with the same serial
numbers.
Skowronski claimed he’d exchanged the same dollars in
Australia without problem, so he didn’t realize the bills were fake. He was
charged with possession of counterfeit currency.
