As part of its preparations for the Pattaya
International Music Festival, the city repaired and installed 300
closed-circuit television cameras along the beachfront to enhance
security.
About 100 new cameras between the Amari Resort and
Bali Hai Pier were installed while other unmaintained cameras installed
previously were repaired or reconnected to monitoring systems. The
intent was to give law enforcement better tools to monitor security
during the March 18-20 festival and catch any wrongdoers.
Beach vendor Thongrak Chaisit said petty crimes during past music
festivals has been a problem. She said she was a bit relieved to find
the city was stepping up security.
