On Sunday September 11th the Gold Fish team and I
alongside Ms. Jenkins, Mr. Crouch and honorary helpers, braved the monsoon
weather to set up our Regent’s Stall at the Jester’s Fair. From the moment
Gold Fish was enlisted to represent our school, we immediately began
brainstorming activities that would raise a great deal of funds for the
Jester’s Foundation.
It had been decided that we were not only going to appeal
to the sports fans but also integrate a creative activity into our stall.
Throughout the summer, donations were raised from friends and family members
alike, much of which went to purchasing the supplies needed to bring this
project to fruition. We were to offer a lawn dart toss, water balloon toss,
sugar cookie decorating and foam craft making station.

Gorgeous biscuits ready to be
sold.
Unfortunately, due to the weather, we made the decision
to close our stall at approximately 11:45 a.m. Sunday morning and devised a
plan of action to raise money for this worthy charity. It was decided that
we would personally decorate all three hundred sugar cookies, package 100
bags of candy and sell the foam puppets to parents and children as a means
of generating funds.
With the help of the Regent’s community, the Gold Fish
team and I were able to sell all of our supplies and in the end generated
over 20,000 baht. Thailand’s monsoon weather had initially been seen to
generate a series of unfortunate events; nevertheless, there was light at
the end of the tunnel and it came to be that at the end of the day, we still
managed to exceed our goals!
The Jester’s Foundation is such a wonderful organization
and I know that I speak on behalf of the entire Gold Fish team when I say it
was our pleasure to have been given the opportunity to work this event!
