Hunger leads to burglary

The hungry thief awaits his
free meal from the police as they catalogue the stolen goods.
On December 12th, a Crime Suppression Division police
officer was just leaving the police station after his daily duty when he saw
a young man carrying a large cardboard box which appeared to contain
something heavy. He asked to look in the box but the man fled from him,
throwing the box down in the middle of the road as he ran up Soi 9. The
officer gave chase and apprehended the man.
Upon examining the box, he found that it contained an Olympia electric
typewriter, a Panasonic telephone, a calculator, a franking machine and
other office equipment. He took the man to Pattaya police station for
questioning.
Police interrogation revealed the man’s name was Sorn Prasomma, 24, that he
was a Surin native who had indeed stolen all the contents of the box. He
told police that he had come from Surin to look for work in Pattaya and had
not eaten in many days. Suffering from hunger he saw that there was an
unbarred window in the back of the Green hotel near the police station.
Famished, he took the goods and walked directly in front of the Pattaya
police station. Police gave him a hearty meal before they arrested him and
told him that he should have gone to one of the many foundations which find
work and give food to people in need.
