Beauty, Fashion and many other shopping tips by Ariyada
The Boonrawdpanich family has a lot of experience in
gastronomy. Though of Thai origin, they spent many years in England running a
chain of restaurants. Two years ago they decided to set up a business in
Thailand - B.J. Wine Cellar was born.
Rop and Lek, who have been handling the business since their parents returned to
England, are planning to celebrate the shop’s second birthday in October. This
year they are planning a two-week celebration with special promotions, wine
tastings and parties. Already looking forward to it? Don’t worry, they have
special promotions every month, offering about 30 different wines for 20%-40%
less than the normal price.
A few samples of September’s bargain prices include: South African wines at Baht
595 per 75 ml bottle; French wines in the price range of Baht 365 up to 560; and
German wines from 645 and 675 Baht. Best of all, buy five bottles and get one
for free.
More French wines priced between 895 and 1950 Baht per bottle; Italian, Spanish
and Greek wines with prices ranging between 465 and 1925 Baht are also
available.

All in all, B.J. Wine Cellar has about 500 different wines
from 12 countries on offer, including Austrian, Portuguese, American, Moroccan,
South African, Chilean, Argentinean and Australian wines and sparkling wines in
their big, air-conditioned warehouse. Even their delivery trucks are
air-conditioned to guarantee good quality always.
“The right treatment is a must to keep the wines fresh,” says Rop. “Still, we
also have an exchange guarantee in case a bottle should be spoiled.” The wines
are already at very reasonable prices, yet Rop and Lek still try to get even
more reasonably priced wines, in order to make it possible for everyone to learn
about wine and therefore start to enjoy drinking it.
Rop, the manager, who spent 14 years in England (app. half his life), including
2 years working as a chef and four years in hotel management, has big plans for
the future. Besides the shop in Pattaya, Rop has branches in Cholburi and in
Rayong, with another one coming up soon in Chantaburi, and wants to expand the
main-shop in Pattaya. This month they will start to build a garden restaurant,
and will serve barbecue and wines as well as beer and other drinks. Another
outlet will be opened in the middle of September at Big C in front of the beer
garden at Ruen Talay Restaurant. A cozy corner will be put up for wine-lovers to
sit and enjoy a glass of wine or buy bottles to take home.
If one should lack wineglasses, B.J. Wine has them for sale at 125 Baht per
glass. Other accessories, like a vacuum wine bottle opener for 950 Baht, vacuum
wine saver for 607 Baht, normal cork screws for 95 Baht, ceramic wine coolers
for 280 Baht in different colours, bottle stoppers - 3 pieces for 210 Baht and
Rapid Ice Cooler for wine bottles for 406 Baht are also available. They have
everything that is somehow related to wine.
B.J. Wine Cellar (the main shop) is located on Naklua Road, 571/16 Moo 5. Ask
for Rop or Lek, both speak perfect English and will help you in every possible
way.
