One of the monks blesses the Laem Thong Bank Pattaya.

A new branch of the Laem Thong Bank Plc. opened this week on Beach Rd. (near A&W Fast Food) Pattaya. The bank offers modern banking facilities even amid Thailand’s current economical downturn and difficulties in the financial sector.
With above average half-year results and the sustained growth of its assets, loans, deposits and profits, Laem Thong Bank Plc., with the approval of the Bank of Thailand, has speeded up the opening of more local branches in Thailand’s strategic provinces to meet the immediate needs of retail banking customers. With an extensive and growing network of branches, Laem Thong Bank Plc. is planning to expand to 60 branches by the end of 1997. Apart from Pattaya, they will open this month in Surat Thani and Baan Pong, in Ratchaburi. All branches will be equipped with sophisticated banking technology and all modern facilities. Pattaya’s branch also has money exchange and ATM for convenience of locals and tourists.

Chonburi Governor Khun Sujarit Pajchinaman cuts the ribbon to officially open the bank.

Khun Sawan Sangbunlung, Laem Thong Bank First Vice President of Corporate Communications, told Pattaya Mail, “Laem Thong Bank is a full-service commercial bank, having a varied customer base ranging from blue chip conglomerates to a large mix retail customer with three business groups: corporate and investment banking, retail banking and private banking, each tailored to the needs of specific customer segments.”

Fourteen members of the Chaine des Rotisseurs met for the second wine tasting organised by Jack Heller - Vice Conseiller Culinaire of the Bailliage de Pattaya.
In a short speech, Joachim Caula, President of the Bailliage de Pattaya, welcomed all the members and emphasised the ‘spirit’ of wines. Jack Heller then introduced the wines and the regions where the wines come from. He went on to explain that knowledge of wine tasting starts with simple rules: ear - eye - nose - mouth - palate - brain.
The wines tasted were Soave Classico Superiore (Italy), Rioja Paternina (Spain), Domaine de Carras (Greece), Rose Casal Mendez (Portugal), Cabernet Sauvignon (Italy), Chateau de Carras (Greece) and La Cuvee Mythique (France).
Jack Heller also mentioned that everybody has a different taste in wines and it is always a personal opinion what one thinks about wines.
After the wine tasting, members enjoyed a special dinner prepared by Chef Merle: mixed salad with Parma ham and ground cheese served with black olives; seafood soup served with bread croutons; sliced Lamb with mixed vegetables; and for dessert a mixed fruit salad.
Pierre de Fraissinette and his staff made sure that the service went smoothly and after the dinner Joachim Caula presented Chef Merle and Pierre de Fraissinette with an Award of Appreciation.

People who care - and those who need it

The Thai-Sikh community of Pattaya joins in donating dry foods and clothing to help the flood victims in the south of Thailand. The Pattaya city manager and city officials are seen accepting the donations at the Sikh Temple.

The Fountain of Life Centre, a Pattaya charity foundation, was this week the lucky recipient of a donation of electronic equipment, domestic electrical appliances and household goods, with a value of B 100,000.
This unexpected windfall was made available through the generosity of two companies, Chonburi Steel Mill Services and Siam Steel Mill Services.

The management of Dusit Resort Pattaya, led by hotel manager Hans Banzinger, recently donated dry food and utilities to Deputy Manager of Pattaya City Hall Thaworn Boonsawad in support of charity concert “Pattaya aids victims of Southern Floods Project” at Pattaya City Hall.
