About the only ones who enjoyed another round of flooding in Pattaya
were fish from the Dusit Thani Hotel which escaped when their pond
overflowed.
Their joy was short-lived, however, as crafty passersby managed to scoop up
most of them for supper.
The April 11 storm initially came as relief from the hot weather, but soon
turned to misery for drivers as Beach Road flooded again.
Some, though, took the opportunity to scoop up dozens of fish that streamed
over the Dusit’s retaining wall and into the street.
Fish were kept on the grounds as part of the hotel’s environmental
initiative. But the environmental initiative quickly turned into a charity
initiative when Pattaya’s inadequate infrastructure tipped the scales on the
fish, freeing them from captivity only long enough to end up on dinner
plates.
