Sleepy driver smashes into Sukhumvit police box

A Sattahip police officer narrowly avoided injury after a drowsy commuter
van driver slammed into a Sukhumvit Road police box.
Khanawut Sukhyanudit, 41, told police he had dropped off passengers in Pattaya
and was returning to fetch more when he fell asleep. The van crashed into a
police pickup and then the kiosk at the Taothan intersection, waking him up.
Sen. Sgt. Supapp Sreesukh said he heard the initial crash into his car and hit
the floor. Khanawut’s Toyota van damaged the police box, but had slowed enough
to spare Supapp injury. The driver was not as lucky, receiving minor wounds.
Khanawut was charged with reckless driving.
