Little Miss Patikorn
Chuayklang is suffering from a rare skin disease that, amongst other
symptoms, has engulfed her entire right arm in thick, dark hair.
The Chonburi Red Cross is helping a Nongkhangkhok
child suffering from a rare skin disease.
Red Cross President Bussarawadee Ekachai and Nongkhangkhok Mayor visited
5-year-old Patikorn Chuayklang and her parents June 28, donating cash to
be used the Suwanwittaya School nursery student’s treatment at
Chulalongkorn University Hospital in Bangkok.
Patikorn was said to be suffering a “mystery disease”
affecting only 1 in 500,000 people. It bears symptoms similar to
Melanocytic nevus, with her entire right arm being covered in thick,
dark hair. In addition, she has other spots and moles all over her body.
Giant pigmented nevi are dangerous in that they may morph into cancerous
melanoma if left untreated.
The child is scheduled to undergo laser-removal treatment at
Chulalongkorn University Hospital. In addition to the Red Cross
donation, the Nongkhangkhok government has arranged transportation to
the Bangkok hospital for treatment. (CPRD)
