More than 100 eastern-region doctors caught up on the latest in
diagnosis and treatment of tinnitus at a hearing and speech conference
at Bangkok Hospital Pattaya.
Hospital Director Pichit Kangwolkij opened the Nov. 4 seminar for the
syndrome commonly known as “ringing in the ears.” It can cause nausea,
speech problems and even deafness without treatment of the auditory
nerves.
The seminar is one of a series of successful workshops. Past conferences
included “New Frontiers in Cardiac Disease” and “Current Management in
Pediatrics Patients.”
Dr. Suchitra Prasansuk, director of BHP’s Hearing Speech Balance
Tinnitus Center and Ear, Nose and Throat Center, opened the lectures
with a talk on normal and abnormal hearing balance, causes of tinnitus,
nausea, dizziness and vertigo.
The afternoon session, hosted by Dr. Montree Saengpattarachau, a
pediatric neurologist, covered the problem in children. Hearing
specialist Chalermpong Phaddee closed the day with a lecture on
rehabilitation of hearing and speech problems.
