Orange stickers designate airport taxis

Over 6,000 taxis at Suvarnabhumi Airport will provide 24-hour service to passengers in Bangkok during the Bangkok shutdown.
Patavee Meeraj, coordinator of the Public Taxi Drivers Group at Suvarnabhumi airport, said orange stickers will be attached on all airport taxis and asked the anti-government People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) to allow them passage to drive passengers to their destinations.
The PDRC has announced that it would allow taxis with Thai flags to run into occupied areas during the Bangkok shutdown which focuses on seven major intersections in the heart of the capital.
Rawewan Netrakavesna, Suvarnabhumi airport general manager, said a special parking lot, accommodating more than 3,000 cars, will be available at the airport free of charge.
People can take shuttle buses from the parking site to the first floor of the Passenger Terminal to commute on the Airport Link into the city, she said.
She said the airport has also arranged extra shuttle bus service to nearest BTS Skytrain stations at On-nuj and Lat Krabang. Commuters can take the shuttle buses from Gate 3 on the first floor of the Passenger Terminal.
Ms Rawewan said air travelers should plan for at least four hours by taxi to make it to Suvarnabhumi airport (from inside Bangkok), or resort to Airport Rail Link, BTS Skytrain or MRT underground train to avoid traffic congestion. (MCOT)
