Things are really cooking at Pattaya School No. 7. The same day the
school opened its new library, it also cut the ribbon on a
bakery-training facility.
Deputy Mayor Wattana Chantanawaranon joined Principal Jirasak Jitsom for
the Jan. 15 opening, along with teachers and city council members.
Funded by 100,000 baht in donations, the bakery center was opened as
part of the school’s drive to provide education in music, sports and
vocational subjects.
Under the tutelage of teacher Nutnapha Khidsa-nga, students produce
actual baked goods ordered by students or the general public. In the
process, they learn all facets about baking and running a baking
business.
“We have professional personnel in this department to see that setting
up a bakery-training center will benefit children,” Jirasak said. “If
local citizens are interested, we are ready to serve. The baked goods
produced by us are free of preservatives and we have a school shop that
sells them. This shows that our school has the potential to produce
excellent students as a national strength.”
