This year’s bed race is scheduled for
Sunday, Jan. 26.
Rotary Club of Pattaya members have begun planning
the Pattaya International Bed Race to benefit charity.
The fundraiser was moved to a 4 p.m. start last year due to evening
traffic snarls. Beach Road from Central Festival Pattaya Beach to
Walking Street will close at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26.
Rotary leaders met with Deputy Mayor Ronakit Ekasingh Jan. 15 at city
hall to begin organizing security, traffic management and other issues
to ensure a smooth event.
The race route will begin in front of the beachfront mall and travel
down Beach Road to Walking Street. Thai and foreigners both compete with
dozens of teams entering last year. Officials estimate thousands of
people watched last year’s event.
Proceeds from the event will go toward various Rotary-sponsored
charities.
