Pattaya seemingly grows by the week, but many of its side streets
haven’t changed in years. That becomes painfully obvious when traffic
tries to go two ways on streets built for one.
Soi South Pattaya, which connects to Soi Kophai 4, is a perfect example.
During rush hour, the tiny soi that connects to Thepprasit Road comes to
a standstill as cars try to cut around major streets and traffic lights.
Drivers don’t seem to get that wading through the quagmire takes longer
than the lights.
Local business owner Surachat Wongtalay, 38, said many accidents occur
on the street and wants to see city hall or the police send officers to
regulate traffic and forbid large vehicles.
